    The Opportunity:

    National Development is looking for a full-time Maintenance Technician at Station Landing, our luxury apartment and mix use community located in Medford, MA. The ideal candidate must be skilled in all areas of general maintenance and must be able to perform physical maintenance operations of the property.  

    As a Maintenance Technician, your primary responsibilities include:

    • Reliably handle emergency situations. Excellent communication and organizational skills are mandatory 
    • Maintain the interior and exterior physical condition of the assigned property in a professional manner
    • Assist Maintenance Manager in the performance of all maintenance duties
    • Regularly care for buildings and grounds as needed

    Facilities Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship

    The Opportunity:

    National Development, in partnership with YouthBuild Boston (YBB), is looking to hire a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician Apprentice to receive on-the-job training and attend classroom training through Wentworth Institute of Technology.  The job location will be at National Development’s luxury apartment communities of Ink Block in the South End of Boston, or Station Landing in Medford.

    The only registered Facilities Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship in the state of Massachusetts, this 18-month program for individuals age 18+ consists of classroom instruction and on-the-job training that leads to a sustainable career as a Facilities Maintenance Technician.  Apprentices will be full-time employees of National Development during and after the 18-month apprenticeship.  Apprentices learn basic plumbing/electrical/mechanical skills, cleaning and preventative maintenance, pest management, occupational health and safety, and more.  Participants also earn 8 college credits that can be applied towards a Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree in Facilities Management, if they choose to continue their education beyond the program.

    As a Maintenance Technician, your primary responsibilities include:

    • Maintain the interior and exterior physical condition of the assigned property in a professional manner
    • Assist in the performance of all maintenance duties including service requests and apartment turnover functions
    • Regularly care for buildings and grounds as needed
    • Be available for on-call activity during off-hours and emergencies based on a predetermined schedule and need.
    • Work is monitored by the supervisor/manager. General instructions and procedures are provided.

    Preferred Candidates:

    • Vocational or technical training preferred in facilities maintenance or related fields
    • Willingness to jump in, learning new tasks and systems
    • Available to respond to weather, environmental or emergency maintenance calls after normal working hours
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, needed to work effectively with internal and external customers with respect to differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed
    • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all residents, families, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment
    • Provide a high level of interpersonal skills/customer service to internal and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving
    • Recognize routine problems, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures and by identifying opportunities for process improvements
    • Make decisions based on specific instructions, standard practices, and established procedures which generally require little or no supervision

    Requirements:

    • Must be age 18+
    • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
    • Must have a basic English language proficiency
    • Required education level of a High School Diploma or GED
    • Ok to pass a drug test
    • Ok to pass a background check (CORI/SORI), some exceptions may be made.
    • COVID-19 vaccinated or an approved exemption
    • Must be able to exert 50lbs of force frequently or 100lbs of force occasionally. Work is physically demanding and requires extended periods of standing and/or moving.

    National Development is looking for a full-time Leasing Consultant at E3 Apartments, located in Allston, MA. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for people, apartment living, and creating a sense of community among residents and team members. As a member of our leasing team, you will instill a sense of National Development pride in everyone that you interact with.

    As a Leasing Consultant, your primary responsibilities include:

    · Corresponding with prospective residents – establishing a good rapport, setting up appointments, touring the community, and taking them through the leasing and move-in process, all while showcasing exemplary customer service and sales skills
    · Administrative tasks such as lease generation, resident file preparation and maintenance, and resident correspondence
    · Preparing weekly leasing reports
    · Participate in the planning and execution of resident events
    · Maintaining social media presence, working with the internal marketing team to create and post content
    · Cultivating and maintaining strong, loyal relationships with residents, offering a first-class resident experience and helping to maintain a strong sense of community
