Boston Business Park

The Opportunity
In 2015, National Development acquired a 450,000-SF industrial complex on 72+ acres in the Readville section of Boston. In addition to office and maintenance space, the site features a 430,000- SF manufacturing and distribution center.
Energy Generating Improvements
Partnering with Altus Power America and Borrego Solar Systems, National Development installed a 3.9-megawatt rooftop solar installation — the largest operational rooftop installation in Massachusetts at the time.
Energy distribution
The clean energy produced by the Boston Business Park solar installation is owned by Altus Power and is sold to UMASS Boston. The five UMASS campuses are the largest offtakers of net metering credits in Massachusetts.
Key Metrics
Energy Production
The solar installation in anticipated to produce 4.8 million kWh of clean energy annually.
Site Installation
The installation was the largest to date in Massachusetts and was a contributing factor to the more than 40% increase in installed solar capacity from 2015 to 2016.
Environmental Impact
This amount of solar power is enough to offset approximately 128 million pounds of carbon dioxide, which is the equivalent of eliminating nearly 140 million vehicle miles or taking nearly 120 cars off the road.
